I have undated brass ID tags for my 1956 Corvette WCFB 2x4 carburators. I would like to buy stamps to put the date info on them. I have a source for the stamps but I'd like to know what size (height) lettering the date stamps should be. There is also a character (digit?) centered and stamped below the date code on those tags I've seen. It appears to be an even smaller type face and I'd like to know that type face size as well and the appropriate character type and range (i.e. letter a-z or number 0-9) to place there. I have seen at least one pair of tags that had a digit 4 in this location. Was this related to the shift that did the assembly? I appreciate any assistance. Bernie Myers

He has the exact stamping tool, with the numbers, etc. He makes the carb tags and they are dated and numbered correctly. Cost around $50.00. You can ask him for the data you are looking for, but it would be easier and probably cheaper to just order the tags from him.- Top

Re: C1 Carter carburator ID tags
Thanks Gene. I will contact him. Most of the catalog suppliers sell the date stamped tags too, but since I already have the blank tags, I was hoping to do it myself.- Top

Re: C1 Carter carburator ID tags
Dick, You're right, he'd be worth a try. Actually, he built these carburators about ten years ago and put the blank tags on them. I don't know if he has the stamps but he'd likely be a good source for the information I'm looking for.- Top

Re: C1 Carter carburator ID tags
Bob made a tag for me a little over a 3 years ago with the correct stamps. If I remember correctly, I believe I paid under 10 bucks for it. He was recommended to me by the Dale before he took ill and passed away. Sure do miss that fellow. May God bless. Regards, Jon- Top
