I got a '64-7 molding clip to look at to get a better idea how to remove the windshield lower stainless trim from my '64. The clip that I can see with the side pieces off is not the same. Either I got the wrong clip, or I have a '63 molding which could be possible since the car was built in the 3rd week of '64 production. The cross-section of my molding resembles a "T" with the top rounded. I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to figure out what I have.

Re: Identifying '63 vs '64-7 lwr w/shield molding
Scott,
The clip you describe is made to slide into the lower portion of the side reveal moulding and clip down on the retainer that screws on the windshield frame, this will hold the end of the mouldings where they join together down. The 1963 convertible used the same type of clip but the part #'s are different and the retaining clips that attach to the windshield frame are pushed on to install not installed with a screw. Hope this helps- Top

Re: Identifying '63 vs '64-7 lwr w/shield molding
The lower molding on a 63 has a longer and straight flange. It has no roll on the edge. The clips on a 63 are large affairs that go under the rubber and saddle the windshield frame. Clips for the 64-67 are small and screwed to the windshield frame.- Top

Re: Identifying '63 vs '64-7 lwr w/shield molding
Wayne, If I understand correctly I have a '64-7 molding because the upper edge is rolled back under on itself and the lower edge is rolled back under about half way across the molding, then down to form the vertical leg of the "T". I must have gotten the wrong clip because it looks like it is meant to catch a bottom flange that is not folded back tight on itself. Thanks.- Top
