dumb question but how do you get the parking brake handle thru the slider in the console? just force it or do you have to take the handle apart? the slider was broken when i took the car apart so i dont know.

    Dick-----

There is a "slit" in the "slider" for just the reason that you generally describe. If you have a new slider without the "slit", then it must be an aberration. In any event, you can cut the slit with a razor blade.

The 1967 and 68+ sliders were originally different. The 67 slider is shorter and has the slit on the opposite side from the 68+. So, it may be that reproduction sliders omit the slit so that you can "cut-your-own" to be "correct" for the car that you are installing it on.

      Joe,
Can you please tell me which side the slit should be on for my 68?
      Driver or passenger side?
      Thank you,
      Kurt

It should be on the left (driver) side of the slider about 3/8" rearward from the forward end of the lever slot as the slider is mounted in the car.
