    does anyone have any products to clean cast aluminum valve covers
    that brings out shine without harming them ,also would you put any protective
    product on after cleaning thanks

    Aluminum Jelly. Try your local hardware store. But the best product is elbow grease. Don't clean them by blasting them. That'll ruin the finish.

    Look in the archives for John Hinckley's recommendation for a shop in Maryland that "reskins" them if you want to spend some money. Not cheap, but not too expensive.

    After you get them clean and pretty, don't paint them with clear. It'll yellow from heat; look terrible; and, it'll be difficult to get the clear off.
