I found 2 round, 3 prong seal beams in the garage. On the front they say "Guide" at the botton it says "Power Beam" in a circle in the center. They have the raised glass tabs for aligning. On the back they say in orange stamping, At the top "L" below that "4000" below that "03 2 8" on the other "03 2 1" below that "12 V" any one know what this fits and the meaning of the printing? Dale

Re: seal beam's
Dale,
I questioned the date coding of Guide lamps a few years back and saved the answer that I got from, I think, John Amgwert. The answer that I got did solve the question of what did the orange stamp on the back of the lamp(bulb) mean, and discovered that the lamps in my 67 were, as I thought, the original ones to the car. The lamps were dated 21 days prior to my cars assembly date.
Here is the answer as it was given to me:
According to Chevrolet's Product Identification Manual used by Chevrolet Zone Office Department persommel(for purposes of warranting failed components) was supposed to be as follows:
Ink stamp on back side....
Top line contains the nationally recognized Trade Number of the bulb, such as "4001"
Second line is the date and assembly line code: first digit is the month (1 thru 0) for Jan thru Oct. or N or D for Nov. or Dec.); next digit is the assembly line code; third digit is the year (such as "3" for 1973); ending in two digits representing the day of the month (1 thru 31).
Third (and last) line indicates voltage ("12V") and a series of one, two or zero dots indicating 1st shift (two dots), 2nd shift (no dot) or 3rd shift (one dot). These dots should appear on either side of the "12V" designation.
As stated in the beginning of this message.... this is the way it's "supposed to be"...at least for the 1960s and early to mid 1970s.
With this you will see that the orange stamp dates on the back of your bulbs are October 1, 1972 and October 8, 1972.- Top

Re: seal beam's
Dale:
Warren is exactly correct on the dating of your Power Beams but there is 1 other number that has some significance (I'm not sure to whom, howevr) and that is the 2nd digit. On your bulbs the "3" is the 2nd digit. This refers to the production line that those bulbs were manufactured on. At any given time there were several lines running at the same time and it was important for the manugacturer to know which one a given bulb was produced on. Hope this bit of almost useless information helps.
