I'm looking at a 1969 corette and the owner states it has the correct CE block in the car. Does that mean It is the orignal motor or a correct replacement motor. Thanks

Re: 427 CE Block

There's nothing to guarantee that a "CE"-coded motor is "correct" for any particular car. At least, not in the NCRS or NCCB meaning of the word "correct". It may be "correct" in the sense that, as far as Chevrolet is concerned, it was the correct replacement engine for the car. That does not mean that it will have the correct block casting number or casting dates which are otherwise "correct" for the car in the NCRS/NCCB context. Of course, it may be that it does have these attributes. That would need to be checked, though. In part, it depends upon when the engine was replaced and/or whether it was done for warranty purposes or for other reasons. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
