Re: tire cradles
OK, I'll bite. What's a tire cradle? I have heard that some of us baby our cars, but this may be too much!! :-)- Top

Re: tire cradles
Modern tires don't permanently "flat-spot" like some older tires did; any flat-spotting is temporary, and disappears in a couple of miles of driving. Any tires that are old enough to flat-spot are old enough that they shouldn't be driven on anyway.- Top

Tire Cradles
Lyndon,
I own a set of tire cradles. I really like them. I think they are worth the few hundred dollars, especially if you don't have a heated garage. It's better to have rubber on rubber, simple as that. You can pump your tires full of air, etc. But I prefer to keep tires a little over the required pressure and park them on the tire cradles. It might be more for mental comfort, but so is that correct Alternator I'm in search of !
Also, their website at TireCradle.com is very thorough and tells you everything you need to know. They have performed many tests with their product and have the data to prove it.
I feel better parking an expensive sports car on top of this rubberized material instead of on top of an extremely cold or hot floor. I'm not even worried about flat spots, I just like the feel of it.
Just my .02 of course.

Re: Wheel dollies are worth it.
I bet wheel dollies would work well for aligning the front and rear of the car for the do it yourselfer. They would give you the extra clearance to get under the car to make adjustments and they would alow the wheels to move as needed for making the adjustment. What say all? Terry- Top

Re: Wheel dollies are worth it.
My wheel dollys, with a completed car on the 4 of them, only roll "easily" in the direction the wheels are pointed. In other words, when I want to move my car I have to unweight each dolly and turn the wheels in the direction I want them to go. Utherwise they are great. Pat G.

Those appear to have the cast iron wheels; I've had a set of Car Skates (www.carskates.com) for many years, and they have polymer wheels with a slightly convex surface and ball-bearing pivots, and I can move a car around (and change direction of movement) with one hand.- Top
