Pilot bearing / bushing shot ??

Simple question....hopefully. What are the symptoms of a bad pilot bearing? Both just *bad* and *wasted* Thank you,

This condition will cause a "shuddering" sound when car is in neutral with clutch pedal in. Will let the clutch disc "wobble" on the "loose" input shaft because of worn bearing/bushing. The best way to go is to replace the bronze bushing with the GM pilot needle bearing. Have done this to both my '68 and '80 thousands of miles ago with zero problems and noises.

Brad, My personal experience of a "wasted" pilot bushing was severe driveline vibration during deceleration. The car would accelerate and cruise just fine but would shake like a wet dog whenever I would slow down. The frustrating part of this problem was that there were no other symptoms that pointed to a failed bushing.

is this the bushing that goes on the back of the motor, where the trans. fits into?, oh boy, ....jc
