    C2 Wheel cover question

    Members,
I am looking at the 1965 AIM and have a question about assembling the spinner ornament assembly to the wheel cover.

Is there a correct orientation for the position of the cross flags with respect to the hole for the valve stem? I do not see a note on page E199 that states that there is one. Perhaps the position is random?

I have seen some photographs that show the valve stem directly above the cross flags, but I cannot document how they got there. The TIM & JG does not give us any insight.

    Thanks for the information.

    Regards,
    Gene

    Re: C2 Wheel cover question

Funny that you should ask that, When I started SACE Noland and I as a "JOKE'
We went around telling members that their hub cap spinners were pointed in the wrong direction and the spinner flag should point toward the tire valve stem . No one at the time changed them but at our next Convention we noticed that members had changed them by telling use.
We had the biggest laugh and decided not to ever mention that we made that up. Then some years later found that NCRS put that in their judging manual HE HE.
They were randomly installed on the hub caps C1's any way. If you find old ones you will see it, or ask any Corvette old timer or early members of SACE and they will till you.
That just shows you how any story about any thing can be taken as a fact, so never throw out a part on your Corvette that others say is wrong because it's in the JM. Because I've seen that done many time in the past and later the JM changed.
( there are many little and big things in the JM wrong) Why do you think they keep changing IT??
Here is a pic. on E-Bay selling as ORIGINAL.

        BOB
I didn't know about C2's but suspected they also came the same way. Does NCRS mention aligning your spinners also??? And what would be the point deduct???
