Gary, I saw the same show a few weeks ago. I went with his first option and used a spray can. I pulled the engine of my '66 smallblock 3 years ago to do some maintenence and cleanup. With the engine on a stand, I pulled the valve covers, timing cover, oil pan, carb, intake and exhaust manifolds and all brackets off the block. Cleaned everything thoroughly and scraped off old loose paint. I then used a couple cans of Seymour EN-48 Chevy Orange spray paint, put everything back together with new gaskets and re-installed the engine. I've driven the car probably 5000 miles since then and the paint is holding up very well.

Thanks for the info.! I'm close to the point of repainting the engine. I figure since the rest of the car is in the shop for paint why not the engine.
I had not understood before the show that normal body paint could be used.
I have had good succes with a can. I'll probably stick to it

How has the paint held up on the intake manifold? Has any of it burned off?

I have the L79, so the manifold is unpainted.
