    date

I know that you have a six month window on dated parts. my questtion is what is a typical window for parts. such as carbs an starter ect.. for cars built in the 70 model year as 71 cars. how much did the strike affect the cars built in the last part of 70 if any? anyone who has seen alot of those cars I would like to know some of the dates for those parts.

    Re: date

    Lyndon,

Both my June of 71 built 71 and my June of 72 built 72 have the vast majority of their parts built within a month of their build date. 6 weeks is about the farthest I've seen for "common" cars such as my base motor 4 speed cars. LS-6's are a whole 'nother breed.

The only "anomaly" on either car is the August of 1970 water pump on my 1971. Go figure. And yes, it's real and original.

I've studied a lot of 71 and 72 small block cars, and the 4-6 week rule holds true for essentially all of them.

      Lyndon:

Unfortunately my 2 '71's are not early cars, both well into the 1971 calendar year of production, sorry I can't be of help to you.

          Lyndon,

I have a Dec 14, (E-11 S/N 3932) dated car. Most of my parts are dated Aug. If you remove the nine week strike, my car would have been a early October car. The block, heads and intake and manifolds - intake and exhaust were all Late Nov and early Dec. The stuff that is added to the engine -A/C compressor, carb, alt and water pump were all Aug dated along with the side glass and windshield and 5 port waher pump motor assy. The car is a sb and has been TF X 3. So I think the strike really affected my car.
