    (C2) 1963 radiator support questions...

    hello,

have to have new/used replacement radiator support and am hoping someone here may have some experience with buying replicas as offered by LICS or DeWitts and so forth...guess i'd like to know who is doing the manufacture of these and would they be apt to pass NCRS type judging scrutiny? what is the build quality and is it up to the general's standards?

any place better to buy from than others?

    any information provided truly appreciated,

A couple of years ago I ordered a radiator support from Long Island Corvette. It never got delivered. Long Island Corvette told me they had trouble with their suppliers. I ended up buying the lower support piece only. It was a very accurate part, I was able to salvage most of my original support, and it cost less.

      Dave,
I bought a Dewitts radiator and recovery tank for my 67 and couldn't be happier. If the quality of his core support is like his radiator, you will be happy. Also he is a nice fellow to talk to, will answer questions and give advice. I bought my items at Bloomington and he had all his items on sale for a show special, so if you can wait and check the shows he attends, you might save a few bucks too.

        Coffman makes supports

They are usually at the Winter Regional in Orlando so if you are planning to be there, get one on the show special price.

Accuracy is very good. The inaccuracies are so slight, most don't know they are even there. And the reason for such we have discussed here before, in that there is a difference in a company making 30,000 of them a year and someone making a couple hundred or less for each year. In that light, these are very, very good.

          Rad Support

          Dave,
If you check out eBay, I believe there are 2 offered at this time (both the FI and the non FI units) said to be correct for '63.

            Re: Rad Support

What is the going price on one? I might pull the regular support out of my '63 is the price is right. I have to put the AC one in anyway.

              Mike,
I think the repos go for about $300.
I bought an original non FI '63 support in like new condition for $220 after searching for one for a very long time. Anywhere in this price range seems to be about the going rate.

                hello,

& thanks to all for the kind replies!

ordered a support from Coffman this morning...they may have taken all of the available supply with them to FL corvette show but it was indicated that shipment should take place in a reasonable amount of time

when new support arrives will try to take some comparison photos and some measurements so that the lore on this particular issue might be expanded....

Don't know about the non-FI support. But below is a pic of my original 63 FI support showing the raised sections where the horns mount. The 64 and Service replacements I understand did not have these raised areas.
