Do 63-65 cars have this valence notch ? Just curi

My car has a notch in the RH depression of the valence above the RF bumper.
Thought to be needed for body drop, the notch is just above the RF bumper bracket in the trailing edge of the valence. I was told it was for BB cars, but SB cars have it too. Could it be to clear the A-C canister on SB or BB cars during body drop?

If SB or BB A-C cars, then maybe early 63 cars don't have it. If BB A-C cars (only) caused the need, then maybe 63-64 cars don't have it.

I'm just wondering if people with original cars can please give me a hint.

      Dave

I have two nice original 63's, one with air. Neither car has the notch. Keep in mind 63 had unique radiator supports and the valence differed in later years as well. My Bowtie 67 small block has the notch.

My 65 has the notches and so did my 64. I stripped to bare glass, so I am confident on originality. I never paid much attention to them, but I don't recall ever seeing a C2 without them.

Do you have a better picture of the notch or some dimensions as to how much the glass is cut out? I need to transfer notch to a new lower valance. David

              Dave,

Your picture location is fixed. The reason it didn't work was because you copied and pasted the URL to the picture into the box, but you did not select the that was already there. You ended up with the URL of

              "".

              Note the double
It doesn't take much to break a URL.

I edited your post to correct the URL, and it works fine now.

Re: My curiosity just increased - a lot

I have a question on this notch. Does anyone have a car that is still in it's original paint that has the cutout? I'm trying to learn if this was cut before or after the body was painted. May be able to see raw glass on the cut area if done after paint but I suppose because of the angle of spray, it could be unpainted either way.

Also, on unrestored cars, is there an unusually low number of frame/body shims at the #1 mount location? (core support) Thanks,

                Michael

Michael, The knotch is not a cut and fit item. It is actually molded into the panel. When you look closely you can see the molded edge, not cut with a grinder.

Thanks Wayne. I'm going to have to get a good look at one of these. I've seen many but never really paid any attention to them so time to get educated I guess. (never seen one on a 63)
