1965 Base Engine Intake Mainfold Cstg.

I am the original owner of a last day production vehicle (540).
It was the Dealership`s owner`s car until I purchased it in late 1965. The engine has never been apart, other than normal electrical tune up, carb rebuilding, valve cover gaskets. The car has 60,000 original miles. The intake manifold casting is 8888992 D105 GM4. The intake manifold has never been removed unless the Dealer changed it prior to my ownership.
Can someone provide me with information about this configuration and "strange" casting number???

    It's probably 3866992...

Hi Chuck -- Those 3's 6's and 8's sometimes all look the same, moreso in cast iron than aluminum. The NCRS Tech Manual considers the 3866992 as an acceptable alternate as a base-engine manifold, to the more commonly seen 3844457. With a casting date of mid-April, it's within the "window" for an end-of-July production vehicle.

My dyslexia AND my math ...

            Should have typed 3866922 (not 992); and I should'a signed (540 + 24).
