I also have this request on the Corvette forum. I think the cut out started in response to a body drop problem in 65
What started my inquiry was a remark by a body man who teaches c2 resto at BloomingtonGold StCharles. He said BB cars all had the cut out. I think what he learned was the cut out (moulded in notch)was created in response to BB (body drop?) manufacturing problem.
