Re: Verle, now I can visualise it

The 531302 would not be used in your case.

You need the 531304 plate, and a 531306 retainer. The retainer's got a rubber mount inside of it that must be ordered separately. Then your Muncie will hook up with the crossmember.

Don't forget the shims or spacers I mentioned in my previous post.

I note you've got the style Muncie that has the speedo cable connection on the passenger side. Don't know if the stock C1 speedo cable is long enough to reach.

        Pat,
I would GENUINELY encourage you to install your Muncie EXACTLY the way a T-10 is installed in a 62-----------with the adapter plate, and the shims between the frame/cross member. This is really the best way to install a Muncie in a 56-62.
Furthermore, my 56 with a Muncie has thicker shims than those used in a 62 installation. Acutally, they are 3/4in home made spacers (made from 3/4in alum plate). It looks so good, you would think Chev installed it at the factory. This much added spacing really helps. My Muncie has the speedo fitting on the right side also and I bought a longer cable to reach. Determine how much longer your speedo cable needs to be, then buy one that much longer (or a touch longer) from the local parts house, such as NAPA. They carry, or can get, multiple length speedo cables.
