Is it possible that Corvettes built prior to 1 Jan 68 did not have the shoulder belts? The reason I wonder is, I purchased a new December 67 built 68 Z28 Camaro and it did not have shoulder belts. I worked for Chevrolet at the time and remember other new Camaro's coming in with the belts installed after January. Wonder if any early production 68 Corvette owners would have info on this. I am not certain but early 68 coupes might not have had shoulder belts installed. I might have some paper work that talks about this. Is your car early, small block or big? Terry

My 68 Corvette coupe was built in May 1968. I assume I need the shoulder belts, correct???

Interesting, 3 years later they were still an option on my 71 converbible. You would think it would be more of a safty issue on a vert. Go figure.

Interesting, 3 years later they were still an option on my 71 converbible. You would think it would be more of a safty issue on a vert. Go figure.

I think they remained an option on convertibles until they went out of production in 1975. I agree with you that it didn't make sense. Were other convertibles models exempt?

Shoulder belts were optional on my '72 convertible, and not installed.

My build date is May 10, 1968.
It is a small block L79.
