Re: Orlando show - auction
I was also there yesterday, and it was like Don said. Auction had several nice cars and some insane prices. For example, there was a silver '66 Chevelle SS 396 that the trim tag looked like a piece of sheetmetal soaking in salt water for 20 years. Went $25,500 and never reached the reserved, rumored at $40,000.
Several 435 hp '67s scheduled for today, but I wasn't there. Anyone have any word on what they went for? particularly the silver '67 435 hp convertible? Rumors were it would be north of $150.- Top

Re: Orlando show - auction
I WAS IN ORLANDO AND THERE WERE SOME REALLY NICE CARS,FEW THAT I DO NOT THINK WOULD PASS FOR THIRD FLIGHT. I SAW AN UNBELIEVEABLE 69 L88 CONVERTIBLE, BLACK WITH RED LINES MY HEART ABOUT STOPPED. I WAS TOLD IT SOLD AT THE SHOW FOR $235K. I PERSONALLY SAW A 72 SMALL BLOCK ROADSTER TRADE HANDS FOR $32,500. THE CAR WAS THERE FOR FLIGHT JUDGE BUT DID NOT COMPLETE AS THE IGNITION COIL WENT BAD. I SAW THE CAR START EARLIER AND IT WAS JUST BAD TIMING FOR THE COIL TO GO! AFTER HE BOUGHT AN AFTER MARKET COIL AND STARTED A FELLOW FROM GERMANY BOUGHT IT ON THE SPOT. I THINK THE CAR WOULD HAVE TOP FLIGHT IF THE COIL DID NOT FAIL. THE WORSE I SAW ON THE CAR WAS TOO MUCH ORANGE PEEL. I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE FACTORY ALARM WORKING WITH THE CORRECT HORNS. PRETTY STRONG MONEY FOR A SMALL BLOCK THAT RECEIVED ITS LAST FLIGHT 10 YRS AGO. PS THERE WAS ONE CAR IN THE JUDGING FEILD THAT HAD A "NCRS" DECAL THAT READ: NOT CORRECTLY RESTORED STINGRAY. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE JUDGES WANTED THIS CAR OUT OF HERE! TRUST ME IT WAS NOT A NCRS CAR.....- Top
