    C-3 Valve Cover Decal

I have a 71 BB conv. I just purchased a Fact Book by M.F. Dobbins and it shows a picture of the right side of the motor with a decal on the valve cover towards the front of the motor. Is this picture correct and where can I get this decal? Also where might I find/purchase the radio paperwork that would have come with my car?

    Thanks

    Tom,

The decal you are refering to is called an Engine Suffix Code Label. For my '74, LS4, I was able to have the one piece (1 1/8" by 2 1/4") yellow label with (3) black letters duplicated. Based on the photos I've seen, it's right on...but it hasn't been judged yet. I've seen these labels available through various part catalogs, applicable to certain engine applications, but only for 1968 & 1969 year cars. Feel free to e-mail me for more information on my duplication source. As for the radio paperwork, scan through the various parts cataglogs, i.e. Doc Rebuild, Corvette Central, Paragon, Corvette World, etc...also check the ads in Hemmings and the Driveline. The archives here may also have a post or two that references a source for various glove box document items. I've seen the AM/FM Stereo Radio Instructions, 1968 - 1972, listed in both Paragon and Corvette World's catalogs. Although they are reprints, it may satisfy your needs until such time you can locate the real thing. Good luck!

        Thomas:

That decal is available from several vendors. It is the Tonowanda engine plant facilities sticker. Used mainly on '68 thru '70 big blocks in Chevrolet cars. However some of the very early '71 Corvettes came thru with the sticker attached.

I put one on my LS-6, since I figured they were still mighty proud of that engine coming out of their facility!

I don't think the medical career is in jeopardy yet. At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky to make a retirement hobby out of it.

At least the medical career financed a nice color laser printer.
