for what its worth, i am an amateur vette owner and have learned things the hard way, i stripped my 66 vette for a new paint job and found the surround was unusable and the fiberglass repairs were so bad on the rest of the nose that it was easier to replace the entire nose. the vette body shop i went to is very reputable and the owner who does all the work is a purist, he does only vettes and one at a time, he made some calls and got an acceptable 66 nose from a used vette part supplier, he drove about 100 miles, checked it out, verified it was a 66 and he bought it, the whole nose for about 3 thousand, it needed a little touch up at one of the parking lights, if you would like his number i'm sure he would talk to you and perhaps finding an original surround could be done with some phone calls to some vette insiders, gijoetassoni@comcast.net is my e-mail, if you e-mail me i'll send you his name and number, he's going to be pulling my engine and restoring the engine compartment during the rebuild in about two weeks, good luck, joe
