The frequency scale has fallen from the tuner window. Has anyone had a similar problem? How difficult is it to get into the radio? How did you fix it? Thanks!

Re: 1976 Radio Question
Christopher------
The frequency scales are glued to a "drum". After years of use, the adhesive may fail and the piece falls off the drum. That sounds like what happened to you. Getting at this part is not too difficult. You will need to remove the radio from the car (or, at least, remove the center console instrument cluster bezel). Then, remove the radio dial bezel from the radio. You should find the fallen off radio scale within. Finally, glue it back on using a high quality adhesive. If the frequency scale has deteriorated too much, I think that these are sold in reproduction. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1976 Radio Question
I have the same thing with mine, only thing is I had sent my radio out to be brought up to specs. I found some one who all ways had a add in Vette Vues, need less to say I am not happy with the work. after a short time the face fell off. To me it is a pain to get that radio out.
Which leads me to the next question on the dash side panels on either side of the center piece. those screws go into the panels that are just plastic, and after a few times are more of coming out. How would you repair those side pieces so that the screws have something to bite into again. Has any one done this repair? I was thinking about shooting some kind of glue into the side pices where the screws can grab them tight I think some one makes a over size srew with the head the same sizes as OEM but hell I think I have them in to!- Top

Re: 1976 Radio Question
the plastic dial number piece is a bear to get it to stick. you have to be really careful what kind of glue you use as it will dissolve the strip or take off the numbers. i repair/restore radios for the club here in sacramento and for chevyland. let me know if i can help out.
