    Part Number Help

I've got a red cardboard cylinder with a wire coming out at each end. Looks like a capacitor.

It's got various markings on it. One of which is "Delco." Another is "7266376." Anybody know where it goes? Did it fall out of the radio?

I can't find any record of that part number, but it is a Delco radio-related part number. From your description, it is a condensor or capacitor of some sort, especially if one of the markings is "MFD". I doubt that it fell out of the radio. It's possible that it's an external capacitor or condensor that fell off. More likely, though, is that it's one of the car's RF interference condensors that was originally installed on one of the RF "interference troublespots" on the car as part of the original factory radio installation.

        Addendum

Also, you might find this part and part number in the radio option section of your AIM. If so, you'll be able to determine its location.

There is a capacitor that sounds roughly like that which is connected across the contacts of the turn signal flasher on C3 Corvettes. There may be a similar cap on other years.

A check of Delco Radio parts lists from the '58-62 era shows the PN you document was NOT used either internal to the Wonderbar radio nor in an external, RF suppression support application....
