Hello All, I removed a later mid year console (1 piece PN 3860149 4 Speed no PW) from my 63 to install the correct 3 piece aluminum one. After removal I cross checked the PN in my parts book and they do not list 3860149. My 73 book says Group 4.017 3900308 for 64 to 67. I have searched the archives and not found the correct application for this part ither then one post stating the 66 AIM specs 148 and 147. If anyone can check and older part book for this I would greatly appreciate it. Eric #3,182

Re: C2 Console PN 3860149 Question
Eric-----
GM #3860149 is not a finished part number. It is casting number that may have been used for the GM #3860161 console plate. The GM #3860161 console plate was the plate used in PRODUCTION for 1965 and 1966 Corvettes. It was also SERVICE for 1964 Corvettes. In November, 1967 the 1967 Corvette PRODUCTION plate, GM #3900308, replaced the GM #3860161 for SERVICE of all 64-67 Corvettes with manual transmission.
So, what you have is the 65-66 console plate for Corvettes with manual transmission. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

If you got the 3860149 from the bottom of the console, it's a CASTING number, not a PART number; the same raw die-cast part was used to make the many different assembly part numbers (which were released on a chart) to accommodate the permutations generated by interior trim color and window types. St. Louis received the many finished assemblies by part number; I think if you look in the A.I.M. you'll see the console called out as a "chart".- Top
