Another New Scam for eBay Users

I got a Safe Harbor notification today to enter my current information since there is someone claiming I have not paid for several items amounting to $8600 dollars.

    SafeHarbor Fraud Investigation Notice

The URL in the email is of course eBay, but the one it actually points to is http://www.reg-notice.info/cgi bin access setup blah blah blah.

Naturally, I didn't open that link.

There are many spelling errors in the message.

The real tip off is that it went to an OLD Geocities email address that has not been used in years, which means they are using the email CDs to send these out or someone's address book.

I can't stand crap like that. Every once in a while I get similar stuff in my email. Not saying my spelling is all that great either but I always seem to trigger on it by all the misspelled words also. Sort of makes sense when you think about it. Terry

Human behavior never stops to amaze me. I hope they really needed the money. Otherwise, I hope something eventually sorts them out if you know what I mean. Terry

This one you can get some satisfaction in. eBay has a topic for turning in those, and since they are cheating eBay out of fees, eBay actually does something.

                        Terry,
I agree about human behavior but after 30 yrs of police work it comes to one word "greed". Most people work their entire life working hard but a small percentage work hard to cheat hard working people. Criminals breed criminals in my pessimstic view of life. I truly hope the world will change but I won't hold my breath. Too many hard experiences, I guess.

Mike - I agree they are working the angle to avoid the ebay cut. But, if they are up front about the shipping in the listing, was it a "buy it now' listing for $1.00 or a bid start price? I hate this approach too, but is there anything eBay can really do? This kind of listing may be a real good deal for a person local to the seller and he says he will pick it up Craig
