Responses to when a cut out area (wide notch) was molded in the RH depression in the front valence panel (above the bumper bracket). Thanks to all who replied.

The cause may have been putting A-C on BB cars, or the A-C dryer in the way during body drops on all cars due to the increased angle of the radiator support that allowed large BB radiators.

You can add my 66 SB, no A-C, Stl Body, July build date. And yes, it has the cut out. According to you list, it looks like all cars from Dec 65 onward have the cut out. No?

Not sure I understand this A/C related body drop theory. The radiator support was a part of the body when body drop occured, it was assembled along with the rest of the body prior to painting.

My 63 with C60 does not have the cut out.

I can narrow it down a little further. I had previously stated that my car had the cutout but I thought we were referring to the depression itself. Now I realize you are referring to the cut out within the depression. Mine does not have the cut out. I've stripped down to bare glass so I know to be original.

Mine is a 65 AOS body, small block, without AC, no cut out. The birthday calculator estimates a build date of 5/13.

This question was so timely it's almost scary!!My may 66 is at the glass shop now and one of the questions he asked me was "Do you want me to repair the cut out in the lower valance area"?

Is the body drop the reason for cut out??

The body drop theory is not mine, it was given to me as the reason - at the same time as the statement that all 63-67 cars had the cut out.

Since you know about the body drop, was the A-C dryer in the body or on the chassis?
