Has anyone used the eastwood carb paint? how close does it match the finsh of the OEM look? are would you just send it out to be redied?

I have not used it but seen it on a carb at the Eastwood booth at Carlisle. To me it does not look good.......and restoraton by someone like Jerry Luck, Jerry MacNeish, or Bob Kuntz is the only way to go......Craig- Top

In addition to the folks listed above, I'll give a very positive report on Dick Katter at Eaglehead Restoration.
He restored my Carter WCFB and it looks beautiful. Almost too nice to put on the car and drive around. Looks like it should be setting on a coffee table or in a china cabinet!

Tried it, it sucks!
I tried it on some fuel bowls, before I got my copy cad/zinc plating kit(Caswell). The carb finish looks painted and you can't get that gold irridescent finish. It comes out dull gold or bronze and looks more like a coating.
I also tried the their golden cad system for bright metal parts. I looks reasonably well but you can still tell it's a coating, and it is soft and scratches easily.
On carburetor pot metal parts, you don't even have to replate with zinc to get a good finish. All you need to do is to buff them down to bright shiny metal finish to bare some fresh zinc, and then dip them in Yellow Dichromate (which I got with the plating kit). On steel parts(like bolt heads and levers) you have to plate a coat of zinc first before you dip in the yellow dichromate. If you polish up the zinc plating before the dip, it comes out to a bright gold finish.
Here's a carb I replated, after I removed the painted finish from the fuel bowls:
But it took many hours and lots of practice runs.
There was a recent post also, where you can send the carb to Holley for a refinish job for $150.
