Some one will get my 55

Seems most early Corvettes are going one of two ways now days. Ether HOT ROD or TRAILERED .
Restored or nearly original restored driven Corvettes are so rare now days. When I meet some one on the road driving one , it's exciting to talk to them . Here in Ca. so many C1's are going Hot Rod, that trailer restored C1 Corvettes may be the last hope to see a real Corvette.
. The money factor will force those to be stored away only to be seen once or twice a year.
What will happen when the few of us that drive original Corvette are gone is a sad thought.
Money is pushing the early Corvettes off the road, but my thinking is that I found and restored my Corvette to drive and enjoy and hopefully the next owner that is lucky to get it will feel the same way. It should need restoring by then again, giving that person the excitement I had when I first got and restored it.

    Roy-

If it makes you feel any better, here's the '62 that I help maintain here in SoCal. While certainly not perfect, between the owner and I we've put 2500 miles on her in the last 12 months, (the drivetrain is all original/matching #'s) and she's getting more 'correct' (if not original!) all the time with the help of everyone on this board. I appreciate the expertise of everyone here and at 36 hope that I am part of the next generation of folks who appreciate these beasts the way they came from the factory.

        Rob,

Where in So. Cal do you live (it's a big area)? Ever get to Donut Derelict's in Huntington Beach on Saturday mornings?

            Don-

I'm in Irvine, the owner (wife's boss) is in Laguna Beach. He lets me exercise the '62 for him when he's out of town, which is a lot of the time. I am often at Crystal Cove with it on Saturdays (see link below), I haven't been up to HB though. I'd love to check it out! If you can e-mail directions, I'm at roberte01 at cox dot net. Thanks!

I'm in Northern Ca. between Sacramento and Reno up in the Sierra hills 3000 feet. A small town Nevada City but there must be 20 C1's and C2's here and every one drives them. It's so neat to see them in town around here.

Roy, Mine's a young '69 which I continually perfect. I don't drive it in inclement weather, but I drive it. If I could afford to put a car under glass, maybe I'd consider it. However, I can't so I wave too.

                            If this is an offer

then I'm here to let you know I'd follow your dying wish on the driving part. I trailered some of them a lot, but then, I usually drove them a lot when I got where I was going. And they were trailered because they were going to be raced or I was moving.

Heck, in '85, I was still commuting in my '68. 245 miles to the job, spend the week, then 245 miles back home. The last day of that job I went home with monitor in the seat, computer and luggage in the back, and top down along Route 66. Today my commute is 35 feet so I don't drive anything to work.

My idea of going to shows was to support the club I was in. The reason I bought a Corvette, and longed for them before, was to drive them.

Just something for you to keep in mind.
