    57 Parking Brake Alarm

Thanks for the last response Roy. Another question-when my parking brake handle is pulled the light stays on constantly (doesn't flash). The flasher looks to be in good condition, actually looks like new, so I removed the cover and it was dated inside 5-58. Could it be that this 58 flasher won't work on my 57 setup or is the flasher no good? Thanks again. Brian

Ether should work OK ! when you opened it was the thin wire good and not broken ?
People on e-bay some times sell flashers out of an old flashlight,(look just like a Corvette) for the red light flashes when turn on (red)
They don't work in 6 or 12V cars.

The correct flasher for your application is a #650. The number is usually ink stamped on the flasher with white ink. They are quite delicate internally and can get stuck in either the on or off state. I have repaired them by replacing the innards with a turn signal flasher guts. If you would like instructions on this, I wrote an article a couple years ago for our chapter newsletter explaining the process that I might be able to resurect. A #642 can be used effectively as a replacement and they are easier to find (ie. cheaper). A #632 is the 6 volt version for 53-4 applications.
