I have heard that the 71 small block hood is a one year only piece. True or false? difference?

Bob, my copy of the '71 AIM calls out the base car hood as PN 3964146 and my 53-72 P&A Catalog references the same PN as applicable to both '71 and 72 model years (couldn't have been used beyond '72 as the WSW door was eliminated in '73).... -

I believe the 72 hood "may" have the hood support attachment in a different location, ahead of the 71 location.

I believe the 72 hood "may" have the hood support attachment in a different location, ahead of the 71 location.

The GM #3964146 hood was used for the 1970 and 1971 model years. It was also used for very late 1969 (after, about, 10/69). However, it was not used for the 1972 model year.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment

You're 100% correct (as typical)... Taking a 2nd look at my copy of the P&A Catalog the 3964146 hood is clearly listed as applicable to '70-71 cars! My fingers 'slipped' on the columnar data as I dashed off the reply to Bob. Appreciate the correction!!!!Comment
