I am trying to find a complete set of weather strip for my 57 corvette. The original weather strip had what I think was a manufacturer's logo on it about every 12 inchs or so. The logo is an "s" inside of a box or diamond. This logo is looked for during judging. Does anyone know where I can find this original style weather strip or some type of stick on logo? thanks, Don.

Re: 1957 corvette weather strip "s" logo
i took a scalpel and cut the logo out of the original weatherstrips, removed an equal portion from the repo W/S and glued the S within the diamond using black 3-m weatherstrip adhesive. passed duntov and judges didn't pickup on it(near 15 years ago). judges may be more investigative in this area now days. good luck, mike. PS only ever seen one door w/s, a very old NOS piece with logo, in the 20 plus years i've been going to carlisle and cyprus gardens.- Top

I don't think I've ever actually seen the marking on a weatherstrip. If there's someone out there with a digital camera that could post a photo, I'd like to see what it is I'm looking for at all these swap meets I go to.- Top

bern: not good enough with the digital camera and sending photos on line but finding a nos 56-7 W/S at a swap meet would be akin to finding a first desing 57 FI aircleaner. the triangle and the enclosed S are embossed on the exposed surface of the rubber at about 12 inch intervals . i'd guess the overall length of each logo is about 1/4" by 3/8". mike- Top

Re: 1957 corvette weather strip "s" logo
Don, I have an NOS set of "diamond S" w/s still in the GM bags. They still have the white rubber release coating. I am in the process of redoing my car and am undecided as whether I should put them on the car because i paid alot for them and they are worth more in the bag than on the car. I have salvaged some diamond S's from some old original but unusable w/s like Mike mentioned and have poured several molds. I am still trying to perfect the molding process and have made some very good rubber diamond S's that could be applied with super glue on top of the w/s, or my preference (as Mike said) cut out a spot in the repro w/s with a #15 scalpel and place it in the space with some RTV and or black w/s adhesive. I have consided starting a small enterprise by buying the repro w/s, surgically implanting the diamond S's and selling them as sets. Could virtually do door mains, deck lid, trunk and hood this way. Is anyone interested in something like this if I were to speed this process up a bit? BTW- the S's are not as close as 12". THere are only three on a door main if I remember correctly.

Garry, An idea I've had kicking around my head to epro the "diamond S" on the weatherstrip. Don't know if it would work or not. Many business cards are prined with heat expanding inks. The print is raised on the card and is very commmon to business cards. Possibly I've seen this type of heat expanding inks for sle in hobby shops (?). Silkscreed a little "diamond S" on the weatherstrip and then run a heat source over it in order to raise the ink on the w/strip. Don't kow if experimenting with this ink would work or not. Jim, it has been awhile. Good to hear from you. I have been trying several things including virtually everything that you can find in a hobby shop. The only problem I am having is the material adhering to the w/s well enough to expect it to last for a good while. I will let you know what I come up with.
