    Will-----

GM #3994018 is the part number for the "AV" code emissions sticker. This was used with LS-5 engines.

Re: LS-6, TI what to look for?

Thanks Joe. I wasn't sure but thought it may have been on a LS-6. I have a 71 with a LS-5, regular ignition. I would think that there should be some indications of the original TI ignition left.
Could you describe what Wil might look for?

Re: LS-6, TI what to look for?

          John-----

The easiest thing to look for would be the TI amplifier or evidence of its previously being there. The amplifier was installed on the front side of the left side, front fender well.

For 1971, TI was part of the LT-1 and LS-6 engine options. It was not available with any other engine.

              Will:

I've been assisting with the LS-6 registry. Could you give me the last 5 digits of the vin #, as well as the trim tag date code.

Will: As joe stated the TI system is located on the inside of the left hand fender. Also there is an additional wiring harness running from the fender area to the distributor and the coil should be a 263 or 207. The oil line fitting hole in the engine block is larger than the LS-5; therefore requiring a larger adapter.

Will, this car was on ebay a few months ago and I spoke with the owner on the phone. He wanted $25K for it and I was interested, but he said that he could not provide any further pics or info than what was in the ebay ad - which was sketchy at best. Also, the owner was a dealer who had changed his ebay name 2 or 3 times in a year or two, so I got cold feet and passed. Some other members may remember the car as he stated that an "NCRS guy" came and looked at the car??? Good luck, Mark

The little "big tell" is the 3 holes in the front left inner fender where the TI amplifier was.

I have the title and it was registered to a Truman Bailey in GA in 1981. The dealer said that it was his uncles car and had purchased it new in 1971 in TN. He said that he thought his uncle had gone to detroit to get it, but wasn't sure. He also said that his uncle had moved to GA in 1980 and had to retitle it.

My father was the one who really did all of the inspecting on the car. He has been around these cars for along time and still has his 70 LT-1 that he raced into the 80,s. His car came from yenko chevy. So he is my guide in all this. But since I know that there are people out there who would just assume pass off a fake as the real thing. But it seems to me the complete motor would be worth money even without the car.

My knowledge in all of these cars comes from what he tells me. The motor is what i would say is flawless. All of the internal parts are there and in really good shape. the pad does not appear to have been restamped. maybe at the machine shop they will be able to tell if the block has been decked. I also have a 70 LS-5. I have 2 matching #'s blocks for it. but the one that was restamped looks just a little different.

Someone else wrote about the TI. The 3 holes are in the front ofthe wheel well. On the inside of the wheel well even appears to be scared from some bolts. But the wiring harness is not there. There is 1 wire that loks like a big ground wire in with the light harness that i don't know what it would go to. My 70 Does not have TI and it has no holes in the fender.
