TI ignition
It was my understanding that the original "L" code big blocks had the TI distributors added at St. Louis if TI was ordered on the car, so in about mid 1969 they came out with the "M" code engines to tip off the Tonawanda plant to add the TI distributor to those engines - as far as I know, no "M" code non-TI engines. Also makes for the interesting question, why no "M" code for the 435 HP engines but there is one for the L88.
Note, the "G" code small block is the only TI small block for 69 too, was it possible this was also a mid year new code to designate the engines needing a TI distributor?
