    C1: Softtop hold-down straps

    Hi all,

Can someone send me some pictures of the softtop hold down straps and how they are attached to the softtop or its bows (for a 59 model) ?

    thanks,
    Rob.

        Hi Roy,

        I don't know about a hold-up strap. Should there be one ?

        greetings,
        Rob.

They are straps at each corner stapled to the rear bow then snapped to the top frame to hold the rear bow up while raising or lowering the soft top assy
            What are you talking about??

                Roy,

I believe these straps are to hold down the bows when the top is folded under the decklid. I just need some photo's to workout how to attach them (and the little snaps) to the top.

                thanks for your help,
                Rob.

Only the 53 to 55 Corvettes used them.

I know '62s had them. I believe all C1s had them. They're the straps that hold up the rear bow when you go to raise and lower the top. They're screwed onto the rear bow, and snap to the top frame on the piece that's behind the side window. Look in the owner's manual under the operation of the top.

Sorry Rob, but there's 2 feet of snow in front of my garage. It'll be a while before I can get out there with a digital camera.

There should be screw holes in the convertible top frame for these things. 1 is in the rear bow just outboard of the latch receiver. The other is towards the top of that vertical piece that surrounds the side window. The strap is black canvas. It has a female snap on the loose end. The strap is secured to the rear bow with a screw/bolt that contains a male snap. The strap snaps to itself when not in use.

You can buy the snaps and straps from most of the usual Corvette vendors. They're not expensive. You should find holes in your existing frame that'll tell you where these things go.
