69 c3 rearend question

Hi all,

Seems to me I read somewhere that the only rearend gear ratio option available on a 69 L68 (427/400hp)with AC was a 3.08. Can anyone comment on this? Also was there any special use betwen the AT and AW rearend marking?

With 4 speed transmission, 3.08:1 was the only ratio available with L-68 and C-60.

If I recall correctly, the difference between the "AW" and "AT" is that one is for cars with 4 speed and one is for cars with THM-400. The companion flange (pinion yoke) is different for 1969s with 4 speed and automatic and, consequently, the differential assemblies, which included the flange as-delieverd to St. Louis, had different codes. Both are "HD" units with cap-type axles.
