66 dark blue carpeting

My 66 dark blue Al Knoch carpeting arrived and it appears to me to be too light.It is lighter than the door pannels,and the seat covers,and lighter then the vinal that surrounds it .To me it appears royal blue not dark blue.It is lighter then my existing carpet,the problem there is I am not sure if my existing is original either.
SO all you clever folks out there I need help.Can you tell me how dark the carpet should be ,Or if anyone else has experienced this situation before?I see the light blue guys have had some trouble in the past.

Jim, I just went thru the very same thing with AK and here is what happened----I will try to make it short----I hope!
History: When I did my 65 frame off in 1980-82 I got new carpet from AK which matched the original carpeting-----no problem.

Fast forward to Aug 2004: Time to replace carpeting the second time----ordered it from Al at Carlisle, I received it from Al Knock, via Mr. Brown just two days before I was to leave on a 7 month Motorhome tour of our great country. When I opened the box, I found the same WRONG blue carpet that you mentioned--my wife calls it Aqua. At this point I'm not a happy camper. It's much lighter than the Al Knock carpet that I installed in 1982. So I call Al and explain the situatiuon and he said send it back and they will SEE if they have the right color. I didn't have time to send it back, so Al asked if I was going to be going by El Paso on my trip and exchange it there. I said yes and that I will even have the 65 with me (enclosed trailer of course)for a color match.

I get to his factory Jan 05 and sure enough they DON'T have the correct Bright Blue (I would call it closer to a Navy Blue) at all. His go to guy, Dale, goes out to their "original" samples and finds a small swatch stapled to a 2x2 yellow 3m sticky which is marked 65-67. This sample is right on, and they conceed that they have been producing the WRONG color Blue. However, their sample is too small for their carpet manufacture to duplicate and could they cut a bigger swatch from my 65 to send them. So Arturo, his Plant Manager, cuts a 10x10 inch sample from just above my rear wheel well that they have sent to their carpet supplier in Georgia.
Al said it would take a few months to get but at least it will be right.

I would suggest that you send it back and ask them to send you the "NEW" color that is in their pipeline----when it becomes available.

Rick, I never thought about their being a recall, and I sure hope even the talk of one will not nix his plans.
He did tell me that it could cost up to 200K to implement this color change for the bulk carpet alone.
