I posted a request for some help on my deck lid a couple of days ago and the responses I received were pretty discouraging. I WILL repair my 1960 truck lid hinge mounting surface and the advise I received makes me wonder if any of you remember what it was like to do repair work. Do any members still do fiberglass repair work or do all you guys just REMOVE & REPLACE when you face a difficult task? When something original to my car can be repaired my 1st choice is to repair it myself and in this case I can and will do the repair. Perhaps there is someone who has a 58-60 trunk lid not mounted on a car that is willing to provide some measurements. I need to locate the three holes for each of the two hinges so that I can re-glass the threaded plates into the trunk lid flanges. A pencil tracing would be an excellent start or perhaps measurements from the edges of the lid. Please don't tell me to purchase a good used one because I enjoy the challenge of repairing things that others would replace. That is the reason I purchased a project car. I just need a little help now and then. Thanks to all of you who have helped me in the past with my requests for information. Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Re: C1 1960 Trunk lid help needed - still
First I and others didn't know you were so good at fiberglass and I thought you were talking about the soft top lid NOT the truck lid,That is harder to locate used then a ST lid and would cost more.
I don't have one removed , but then again using a pencil drawing from some one would not be the thing I would do and I do body work.
I would at least find some one near you having one and using a long piece of cardboard cut it out over the areas as a template . But then I like doing things that make sense- Top

Wayne I like your post. I agree it is fun to take something so old and make it like new again. I have my deck lid off and I can give you some measurements I hope will help you out. Mine is a 1959. The holes are in a triangular pattern as you know. I will call the single hole the front and the 2 rear holes inside or outside. The front hole is 4 inches from the support to hole center, the power top holes are 6 inches from center outside to center outside and 4.5 inches from front center to front center hole. The center of inside to inside rear holes is 28.5 inches the center of front hole to front hole is 30 inches. the center from outside rear to outside rear is 31.5 inches. Hope this helps. Tom- Top

Re: C1 1960 Trunk lid help needed - still
Just one more thing to consider. I had a similar problem with a 56 trunk lid many years ago. The car had been hit in the rear, and broke the trunk lid mounting plates out. What I did not realize until much later was that the trunk lid hinges themselves were bent in the accident. Found this out when the repaired trunk lid would not mount / fit properly.- Top
