What is the command time frame between the "Build Date" of a C2 and the "Delivery Date"? One can ballpark the build date of the car, if that same car has a "Protection Plan Book" with a Protect-O-Plate, the delivery date is written into this book. Are we talking weeks between the two date? Or with the "transit" from ST. Louis to dealer ship and cars sitting on the lots, could there be months between the two dates? (Do we have any good examples?)

Ken,
My '64 build date was January 18, 1964 with a delivery date to Akron Chevrolet in Akron, Iowa on January 29th according to the discussion with the original owner.

Re: C2: Build Date vs. Delivery Date
Ken:
I purchased my 65 new, and have all of the original docs. Not sure if my data is typical but..The body build date was H22 (March 22nd), the assembly date was March 31st(based on Nolan Adams formula) and I purchased the car on 7-2-65, which is stamped on the Proteco-Plate.

Re: C2: Build Date vs. Delivery Date
Ken,
You're exactly right. The delivery date could have been several months after the assembly date. It's also possible that it was the next day. It just depends on how long it sat in the shipper lot, the destination and the amount of time the car may have sat on a dealer lot before being sold.- Top

Re: C2: Build Date vs. Delivery Date
Ken,
My 1966 has an AO Smith body built Feb. 22, 1966....vehicle build date (estimated by VIN) March 4, 1966. The POP is dated March 18, 1966 when the original owner took possession. I also have the original Chevrolet "1966 New Vehicle Inspection and Adjustment Schedule" sheet that reveals that the car was inspected at the dealership on March 15, 1966.
Hope this helps.
