Other than the normal checks: all aluminun except for bottom pan, serial number, date code, safety switch, filler tube and stick, Is there any thing I should be looking for such as a secondary component or other numbers. Also how critical is the transmission to Top Flight judging.

I'm not sure about 62 but 63 powerglide is a one year only corvette only part. The unit used in other chevrolets is different. For one thing the tail shaft is a different legnth. I would think the 62 is different then the unit used in the Impala. I know the 300hp trans for the corvette has more clutch plates then the regular chevy unit. I don't know if the physical size is the same or not for 62.- Top

The 62 had a 11 1/4 tail stock with 3 boses for the shifter. 63 and 4 had 5 boses on the tail stock but ony 3 were used for the shifter. They both had coarse spline on the shaft. The 62 shift lever was different than the 63 and 4 but I had a real early 63 that had the same shift lever as a 62 did. The 11 1/4 tail stock started appearing in the 1965 pass. cars. No cooling holes were in the case of a real 62 powerglide. john- Top
