    Wiring harness rivet ?

When was the wiring harness installed during body assembly? Before or after painting?
The reason I ask is the rivet on the drivers side inner fender which holds the wiring harness just forward of the master cylinder. I'll need to replace this rivet because I need to replace the harness and I'm just getting started on paint.
Was the rivet painted or natural?

We have to, assume, unless you tell us what year you are talking about. I see you have a 64 and a 66, so here goes. If you are refering to the one on the hood ledge, it was painted. However there is no reason to replace it. The wires will come off without removing the rivet.

Sorry, I posted quickly as I had to go to a meeting. I'm talking about the 66.

Wayne are you saying the harness will, connectors intact, go through the wire loop?

the loop can be opened with finger pressure enough to lift the harness out of the clip entirely.

            Firewall Clips prior to painting?

            Wayne,
I'm installing all new wire harness clips on the firewall. Do these go on after or before painting the firewall black?

            Thanks.

Here is the rule. It may not be totally hard and fast, but, if the clip had a solid rivet, it was there at body build and was painted black. If the clip has a pop rivet it ussually was added down the line and is not painted.
