I have a brand new #6258056 rear leaf with a stencil reading "made in Canada" can anyone explain why a spring built 24+ years ago (came with an old SCCA road race car that has been in storage for 24 years) was "made in Canada"??? AS ALWAYS...THANKS in advance...HN redvetracr@msn.com

Re: rear leaf spring
Lots of GM parts are made in Canada -same as lots of GM cars are made in Canada too. Most times the country of origin ID is not present so you would not know where the part came from.
Wanna guess where new Corvette engines come from?- Top

Re: rear leaf spring
Howard, from what I have found out, if you looked at a new C-3 made from sometime in 1970 +/- you would have found the "Made in Canada" stenciled on the bottom. It became a federal requirement sometime in that era. Franz Estereicher, who I and most other people that know about him consider the expert on springs and sway bars, gave me a short education on springs, the methods of manufacturing, heat treating, coatings, etc in Old Town. The "made in Canada" was one of the things that he mentioned.Dick Whittington- Top
