C2 Carter AFB Inspection Tags... Info on it?

I'm looking into having a new inspection tag made for my 1964 Corvette equipped with a Carter AFB carb. Along with the 3721SA identification number, the M3 alpha-numeric date code and inspection punch marks, what other information should be on the tag? Should there be any Carter or GM part number or casting number info on the tag?

    Thanks,

    James West

gary hodges, page 3 of restorer for his phone #, would have the answers and possibly the punches to accomplish your needs.i've got about a dozen old punches which deliver a dozen different configured punch holes. if you know what you need, send the repo tag and i'll punch it for you, on the house. mike

      Mike,

Thanks, I'll give Gary a call. He rebuilt the carb about 6 years ago and I think I have his business card here somewhere. Do you have the punches that emboss the 3721SA I.D. number and the M3 date code? If so, when I get the info from Gary, I'll send it to you. My email address is jwest@oppd.com if you care to send me your mailing address. For doing the stamping, I'll treat you to a round or two of the beast if you go to Salt Lake City in July!

        James-
It probably should also have th 7-digit GM part number as well. All the original 62-63 ones I've seen have that above the Carter number.

          Mike,

Thanks for the reply. I'll ask Gary if he has the applicalbe GM part number for a Carter AFB that was installed on a '64 Corvette equipped with 300hp and a manual transmission. By the way, my dad said that you may be looking for a GM licence plate frame? I have one (1) NOS frame still in the GM packaging if you are interested in it.

JIM; all i have are punches to make the diamonds, triangles, half moons, etc. You decide what shape holes , for inspection purposes, that you want, send tag and i'll do it for a beast or two. see pre 1998 Restorer.page 3, for shipping address.mike

I just bought one of these for my 300 HP standard shift 1962 (3269S) from Paragon. Paragon's pretty knowledgeable. They said these tags did not have a date code or the part number on them. Just the 4 digit and 1 or 2 letter code from Carter. All mine says is "3269S" on it. Comments?

                James,
According to the NCRS 1953-1967 Corvette Specification Guide, the GM # for the carburator is 3851761. It is found on page 99, Volume One.

                Hope this helps.

                Regards,
                Gene
