What should I be looking for when hunting down the owners manual? Is it just the corvette news application card, does it matter if the mail-away portion has been torn away? The build date is Jan 15, should it therefore be a second edition?
Thanks
Nick
Nick,
What you ultimately buy for your car is your decision. Opinions vary. As per NCRS standards the car was delivered with an owners manual and the Corvette News card was intact, therefore that would be technically correct on the judging field. In a high percentage of cases the first owner returned the card quickly for their Owners Kit and free Corvette News subscription.
Many of the "full card" manuals out there are the Helm, Inc. reissue manuals which were made for use in service. Helm printed the originals and the service manuals but the service manuals lack the printing quality of the originals. The service manuals have "no" reference to reproduction. Many of the 1/2 card manuals are originals. The trained eye can tell the difference but a high percentage of NCRS judges cannot. Like most everything there is no clear answer.
