    1967 air injection reactor part # help

    Need help with a 1967 427/400 A.I.R. pump.The aim manual shows the pump and part # 7800308,pulley #3880800.However,the aim only shows a small block application.When you get to the big block set up a few pages after it only shows a drawing of the pump but no part #.I looked in a 1967 parts book dated October 1967.Still can't find a seperate listing for big block pumpo part #. Is a small and big block pump one and the same ? The pump I have has the following information ;5696132 5696211 34062p,with a #3880800 pulley.I refered to the 1967 judging manual and it also is vague with the big block pump.Thanks in advance for any help.

    Louis,

    You are correct. The 7800308 pump and 3880800 pulley are the correct parts for both small and big block in 67. The only exception on the pulley would be a small block with A/C.

        Louis,

        Sorry, but I really don't know on the date. I don't even have a good guess on this one. Hopefully, someone that does know will help.

          Louis,
          If that date code follows the same pattern as the later AIR pumps, it works like this:
          34062p
          340 = Julian date = December 6
          6 = last digit of the year 1966
          2 = second shift
          p = model of the pump
          Terry

              BTW, the reference to the pump part number in the JG's should be deleted; it just causes confusion at judging, as the part number is for the pump ASSEMBLY and doesn't appear anywhere on the pump.

                Louis-----

                The numbers that you provided are part/casting numbers for various components of the pump assembly. They DO NOT positively identify a Corvette AIR pump since the same components were used on most other pumps of the period.

                The important thing that you're looking for is a "T"-like fitting which is attached to the bottom of the aluminum housing of the pump. This fitting is for the output hoses which direct the pumped air to the manifolds. Only Corvette pumps have this fitting; other pumps have the outlets coming off of the rear plate of the pump. The Corvette pump uses the same rear plate as the other pumps, but the the outlet bosses are either not drilled or they are drilled but plugged with soft plugs (like block freeze plugs).

                There are some minor differences between 66 and 67 Corvette pumps but I've forgotten what they are.

                As Michael indicated, the big block and small block pump for any given year are the same. The rest of the system is different, though.
