Anyone add headrests to their C2

Has anyone used one of the headrest hardware kits to modify their seat backs to add head rests? If so, I'm curious of what the quality and fitup was and what vendor would you recommend.

    Thanks.

I did that job about a year ago along with a seat cover renewal and shoulder belts. It turned out well. The seat cover and headrest parts came from this Board's Dr. Rebuild.

Here is a shot of the headrest support that gets welded to the seat frame. PT

          Scott,
Yes, everything came together very nicely. I had the hockey sticks re-chromed, bought all new ancilliary screws, bumpers, foams, etc. A local shop dismantled the old, cleaned the frames/tracks, welded in the headrest brackets, repainted the internal workings and put everything together with new covers for ~$275.00US. I considered that a bargain.

            Scott -

Suggest you sit in a C2 seat with headrest, if you haven't done so. Although they look good, in my opinion they are uncomfortable. Might not be so bad if you're on the shorter side, but the headrest catches me right at the shoulders, like its too low and too far forward.

              Thanks for that tip Mike.

I am 6'2" so maybe not a good idea after all.

In regards to the headrests, are you referring to the 1966 or 1967 style? My 1966 had the brackets in place (dicovered when recovered) but the headrests were long gone. I am currently waiting for new headrests from Miguel at 60's Corvette Seats. After much discussion with Miguel, I have decided to go with the 1966 Bright Blue vinyl and the 1967 foam/headrest stem. Hopefully, this should provide a comfortable fit and good appearance.

                  Mike,
Sorry, I have to disagree. The headrests are nowhere near my neck on driving. There are just a cushion in case of whip-lash in a collsion situation.

                    I have a '67

Didn't realize they were different. Are the 67s any taller?

                      Scott;
The 1967 doesn't appear to be any taller. I believe that the '66 headrest had thicker foam and was tilted slightly forward compared to the '67. The General must have realized that the '66 was uncomfortable and made minor adjustments.

'66 headrests are thicker and don't have the contour that '67's do. Sadly, most '67 reproductions don't have the correct contour and often have the thickness of '66's. They stand out like a bad toupee'. Find original '67's if you can. JMHO Jim

What can we say, we manufacture the headrests and our customers are happy with them. I am finding out that also headrests are being popular on 63 to 65 corvette seats. Mostly customers get these to add safety and comfort. We highly recommend the 67 models because they have a lower degree of forward angle making them more comfortable than the '66's.
Regarding the tall drivers, these headrests have two height positions, which should be high enough for the 6'ft+ tall drivers.

Miguel, I agree. They add safety and comfort and make for more attractive seats than without the headrests. Regards, Jim

How are my headrests seats coming along?
