I Have a 1967 427/435.I was cleaning the engine compartment, when I noticed motor oil on the intake manifold.Most of the oil was located near and around the thermostat housing and the first 2 intake bolts. I took off the air cleaner lid and noticed oil on the underside of the air cleaner lid as well as the air cleaner base.The only explanation I could think of was that it was shooting up threw the flame arrestor on the drivers side valve cover.I also checked the oil and it was slightly above full.This after about 1,500 miles of driving, so I suspect the oil level was at one time even a little higher then I just mentioned.Any idea why this is happening? Any help would be appreciated,thanks.

make sure the PCV system is working and causing a part vacuum in the crankcase. i have seen this problem when the seal on the oil dipstick was not good and causing a vacuum leak in the PCV system. -

you can remove the dip stick and put a combination vacuum/pressure gauge onto the dipstick tube and see what it says at idle. it should show a slight vacuumComment
