When you remove the front cluster screws one at a time, insert in their place 6" sections of all thread, that will screw back into the u-nut. It makes removing the bulbs, etc. a lot easier. PT

Do you really have to remove the steering
column? I've removed the cluster from my 67 twice without removing the steering column, once with the steering wheel removed, and and the second time with the steering wheel in place. I'll admit it was easier with the steering wheel removed.
To remove it with the column in place, I just loosened the bolts on the brace holding the column in position, and the column dropped down far enough, so that the pin on the column collar cleared the hole in the bottom of the cluster. The collar could then be slipped to you, and the cluster can be tipped forward and pulled.
Or is a 67 cluster different from the one in the article?
