B-J makes no attempt to "verify" numbers or history from an "originality" perspective (near-impossible task); when they show a car as "numbers-matching", it just means that the numbers they see on the car match what they should be for that particular configuration, not that the numbers or the components they're on are "original" to the car. There are more bidders who know nothing about "verifying" correctness or originality of the car they want than bidders who actually know something about the car - they just "want" the car, and have the money.
