    adjustable clutch fork ball stud

Need to replace in my 70 muncie. Do I :

1)Search for a correct 1 3/8" (not easy to find)

    2)Use the 1 1/2 that everyone sells(does the 1/8" make a difference)

3)Use the adjustable to 1 3/8".( will it loosen over time)

Re: adjustable clutch fork ball stud

I've used the #3729000 (1-1/2") on many cars and never had a problem with it; longer is better than shorter in terms of clutch fork position and travel clearance.

Also, the 3729000 is the GM-specified replacement for all 1966 through early 1975 models which originally used the 1-3/8" GM #3887159 stud used on those cars. It's my belief that the change was made in PRODUCTION for later 1975 through 1981 Corvette applications as well as 1966-E75 SERVICE due to a problem with the 1-3/8" stud. I feel quite sure that problem is "connected" with the difficulty in getting a proper clutch adjustment often associated with Corvettes. So, the long-and-the-short of it is I think that the 1-1/2" stud is BETTER than the original for 66-E75. No judge will ever be the wiser, either.

1957-65 Corvettes and L1975-81 Corvettes all used the 1-1/2" stud in PRODUCTION. I think that the 1966-E75 use of the 1-3/8" stud was an "experiment" that was found to create more problems than it solved.
