    C2 valve cover decals

    Okay--

No luck in the archives on the subject. Question is, has anyone found a reproduction valve cover decal that actually sticks to the valve cover for more than a month? Or, does anyone know where one might find an NOS set? I know someone might say Ebay. But ebay doesn't work for me, I hardly have enough time to keep up on this board.

    Thanks
    Rob

I'm pretty sure I bought mine from Long Island Corvette.
They have been on there about 8 years now.

There are actually two kinds available. Most places sell "stickers" with a peel-off backing. Correct water soluble decals are also available, but harder to find. I found mine at Paragon. They are also harder to make them stick. The stickers can be identified by a small clear border around the edge. I recieved a 1 point deduction for them. Next time I do the valve covers, I'll either use the correct ones or trim off the border.

          Rob,

You didn't mention what type of valve covers, painted steel or aluminum? On my '64 Corvette I've had the water soluable stickers on my painted steel valve covers for over 10 years and have had no problems with them sticking.

Valve cover stickers, which engine do you have and what's the surface? However, try www.volvette.com (Volunteer Vette Products). Try this part number DC033 or DC033-IL (my sticker 427/390)or just valve cover. This search will get you in the area you want then you can select the right decal. I'm in the process of doing a body off restoration on my 66 BB coupe and this group has a lot of the items required.
            Good Luck,
            Jim

The key in making sure that any sticker/decal stays put is preparation! Make sure that the surface is clean and is free of any oil or wax. On my aluminum valve covers, I wiped them down with lacquer thinner first before installing the decal.

Thanks to all for the good suggestions. To answer a couple of questions, I have painted base 300 hp valve covers for a 66. Does this change the situation?
