    63 starter brace configuration

Does the jagged edge along the forward edge of this 63 starter brace appear correct? If so, was there some kind of a problem with stamping die for the blank or is there a functional reason for this?

    thanks,
    tc

Well I'm relieved in a sick kinda way......

Not that I'd spent $165K on an forged piece or anything but hey, any dollar wasted is one less I have for one that's correct.

            thanks for the help guys!

              Tracy,

Can you tell me what the bolt looks like that holds this starter bracket to the block? I have one with a fixed flat washer but I don't think it's correct. Thanks, Tim

                Tim,

Sorry, but my block was missing both the bracket and the bolt. I don't know the correct head configuration. I'll probably try snag one off a donor engine when it's time to bolt the starter back on the engine.

Every one I've ever had used a 5/16"-18 x 1/2" indented hex head phosphate-finished bolt with a captured washer.

                      John,

Was the captured washer a flat or lock washer? I have indented head (small E mark) 1/2" long but it has a fixed serrated washer but I don't think it's correct.
